Central Africa has significant mining potential due to a subsoil rich in minerals demanded on international markets (manganese, iron, copper, cobalt, nickel, etc.) and a significant number of multinationals (France, United States, Australia, United Kingdom, China, etc.).

Gabon is the second world producer of manganese behind South Africa (10.2 MT in 2022), 69% of which is extracted by Comilog (a subsidiary of Eramet).

The DRC is distinguished by a diversified subsoil (copper, cobalt, zinc, etc.), mature projects and the presence of multinationals. The world’s leading producer of cobalt (69% of global production) and the leading African producer of copper (>8% of world reserves), the sector represents 30% of GDP and 77% of the country’s exports.

The Immersion Mines program in Central Africa will provide support focused on the business context, the legal and regulatory framework linked to the exercise of mining activity, the major players present, and their needs identified awaiting solutions.
