Nigeria, with its galloping demographics and no loss of speed, represents a considerable market in the health sector. The sector is growing, driven by 3 main axes: a federal policy which invests at record levels, local governments which seek to attract investments in medical infrastructure and a private sector which seeks to offer new services and products to the part of the population that can afford access to Western-style care.
The four growing segments are medical devices, medicines, hospital services and e-health.
The development of healthcare provision remains one of the main investment challenges for Cameroon, which devotes more than EUR 1.5 billion annually to the construction and renovation of healthcare infrastructure. These investments, both public and private, are being carried out following a five-year plan whose two priority areas are: adapting the healthcare offering to the changing health profile and promoting universal access to basic healthcare. To meet all these needs and many others, the French offer is strongly welcomed and benefits from numerous advantages such as cultural proximity, normative frameworks and similar medical practices, as well as a good image among buyers and order givers.
