2017 Foreign investments in France #Finland

The 2017 overview of Finnish investments in France is a great surprise: with 10 decisions brought throughout the year, investments from Finland have doubled since 2016! This is the third best year in terms of new investment decisions since the creation of Business France agency.

2017 is also the second-best year in terms of employment since 2006. With 284 jobs created or maintained by Finnish investments, an increase of 72% compared to 2016, Finland is the second Nordic job creator in France after Sweden and before Denmark.

These positive figures mirror the privilege position of Finland in the region, as the third Nordic investor in France. Prominent investments were made in the textile industry and in the IT sector, 60% of the total investments being made in regions. Beyond Paris surroundings, French regions are indeed becoming more and more attractive, as they each provide specific assets referring to their specialised savoir-faire or privilege location.

The top investment has been made by the Finnish giant Nokia, with the creation of a new R&D centre in cybersecurity and the creation of 150 jobs, mainly in engineering. Nokia entrusting France to develop its R&D activities is a great signal for Nordic and Finnish investors, who can benefit in France from favourable measures and incentives to support breakthrough innovation.

The outstanding results of 2017 foreign investments from Nordic countries in France thus point towards a thriving future. Building on close economic ties will advance the development of synergies in various sectors of expertise, including industry, health and technology.
