France is a great place for sport
The French Minister of Sports, Roxana Maracineanu, was in Sweden last week to support the French team at the World Ski Championship in Åre. It was also a good occasion to remind that France is a nation of sport, not only thanks to its great champions, but also because of its expertise in sport facilities, infrastuctures, events and innovation.
France is a major host country for sporting events
The sport event agenda of France is fully booked; at least until to 2024, when Paris is hosting the Olympic Games. In the meantime, and right after the Rider Cup of 2018, France is welcoming the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the Rugby World Cup in 2023. Along these international competitions, France is home to other prestigious sporting events such as the Tour de France, Roland Garros, the Vendée Globe and the 24 Hours of Le Mans to name just a few of them.
All these events can testify to the quality of the infrastructures and the expertise of France in organizing such global events: sport material and equipment, architecture, construction, security, telecoms, ticketing, spectator experience… are just a few examples of the complete and efficient French offer. All these information about the French sport ecosystem have been compiled in a digital catalogue, named Team France for Sport, dedicated to foreign officials and decision-makers.
Also, France is an important market for sporting goods, which represented almost €11 billion in 2016.
Le Tremplin: the world’s first sport innovation incubator
Sponsored by Paris&Co, the Parisian agency for economic and innovation development, Le Tremplin was launched in 2015. This is the world’s first sport innovation incubator, bringing together start-ups, key corporates, and institutional players to develop the sector. This dynamic hub now gathers more than 60 sports-related start-ups along with about 30 large corporate and institutional partners.
